I've always loved penning down my thoughts in the form of short poems/paragraphs. This is a series of observations translated into thoughts, written whilst taking public transport.

Short Writing

2; observation series

Personal Work, 2018

Observation 1

i don't know what it is but i always feel this certain fascination around trains. you would think that cabins and people don't necessary go well together. but when they do, stories come alive. it's not like those fantasies you've been dreaming about of wandering with the mad hatter in wonderland. it's the kind of story that touches your heart because of the pain each and every single one of us bring. it's that kind of story that everyone can relate to. in fact, it's not the stories that are powerful but it's our will and our emotions that makes it seem so great.

trains make me act like Sherlock Holmes sometimes because i'm become so curious about a person or group of people in the train. and this kind of became a habit so when i see someone, sometimes i often know what they've been doing. sounds like a freak accident but i swear i'm no Frankenstein.  it's not science or anything and all you need is those little bit of observation skills.

Observation 2

it was 9am in the morning when i got on the train and 10am in the morning when i got off. anything eventful happened? not really, just buoys of thoughts floating through this empty silence while the lady over the system blares that the door is closing. but then the train stops abruptly and everyone's forced to look. see. just for that millisecond. i don't really know much about numbers but i do know that i take 30 minutes to travel. and that's 30 minutes of silence. it's as if we all have this unspoken rule in the train, that is if you know each other. keep quiet, listen to your favourite song and just wait till you have to get off. sounds pretty saddening if you ask me. all those lost conversations we could've had if we weren't so guarded against one another.

Observation 3

earplugs in and let's all observe silence.

general rule of thumb when you take the train, they say.

hands busily typing away on their illuminating screens.

keyboard warriors that's how they probably came up with that nickname.

yawns and tiredness fills the carriage.
